How to check NAP consistency
Check name, address, and phone consistency by comparing business-confirmed facts with what each publisher currently shows. Approve corrections one by one and follow every publisher through submission to a live recheck.

Before you start
- Have the business-confirmed name, address, and phone for the location.
- Keep a source record that shows who confirmed the facts and when.
- Use the public profile URL or connected publisher record you are checking.
Steps
Confirm the source of truth
Open the location record and verify the business name, address, and phone with the business. Record the source and confirmation date instead of copying another directory by default.
Open the publisher record
Use the public profile URL or connected listing and record the value currently observed there, together with the checked date.
Classify the difference
Decide whether the value is wrong, a valid publisher-specific format, or still unknown. Do not mark a profile inaccurate just because punctuation or abbreviations differ.
Prepare the proposed correction
Show the business-confirmed value beside the observed public value. Include the affected publisher and profile URL so a reviewer can see exactly what would change.
Get human approval
Approve, edit, or reject the proposed correction before it is submitted. Keep the approval decision separate from the publisher result.
Track each publisher separately
Record submitted, published, rejected, or needs-action for every publisher. Submitted does not mean published, and one successful update does not prove every profile changed.
Recheck the live profile
Return to the public profile after the publisher has had time to process the request. Save the live value, profile URL, and recheck date as the final evidence.
EXPECTED RESULT
What you should see when you finish
- The business-confirmed and publicly observed values are shown side by side with their sources and dates.
- The proposed correction has a recorded human decision before submission.
- Every publisher has its own status and the final published result is confirmed with a live recheck.
If something does not look right
The publisher rejected the change
Open the publisher response and check verification, ownership, formatting, category, and account requirements. Record needs-action instead of repeatedly submitting the same value.
The listing still shows the old value
Confirm whether the status is only submitted or actually published, then check the public profile URL again. Publisher timing and eligibility differ, so keep the item open until the live value is verified.
How to check NAP consistency FAQ
What does NAP consistency mean?
It means the business name, address, and phone shown on public profiles match the business-confirmed facts, allowing for harmless publisher formatting differences.
Does submitted mean a listing correction is live?
No. Submitted, published, rejected, and needs-action are separate statuses. Check the public profile before marking the correction complete.
Should every publisher show identical formatting?
Not always. Abbreviations and punctuation can differ. Focus on whether a customer would reach the correct business, address, and phone.
